Awards package, “The Pritzker Architecture Awards”
Brief:
"Design and create a package that reflects the brand's ideals but also celebrates the biggest event of their year. Choose someone to host the event to visualize through typography at the end of the animation. The host can be of your liking. Also design a category award for the event."

Concept:
I chose to create a package for The Pritzker Architecture Awards, primarily because I hadn't ever seen an awards package for the field, but also because I enjoy looking at Architecture.

Architecture is defined by three principles; "Firmitas" (Durability), "Utilitas" (Utility), and "Venustasis" (Beauty). For this concept, I focused on the beauty of form. Simple geometric structures, hidden by darkness, their anatomies revealed slowly by the light from projected text. The radiance cast off from opposing surfaces will illuminate our way as we explore these architectural concepts.

I studied architectural models and used those ideas to build a little city, on to whose surfaces spotlights with gobos in the shape of the typography. The idea was to explore the forms with the spotlights, while creating a sense of pageantry. The project was created in Cinema4D and After Effects.

Frame 1, Storyboards
I thought I'd take my Wacom out for a ride on these storyboards.

Frame 2, Type exploration
The Awards didn't have a mark or identity that I could find, so I created one. Ignore the Didot option -- it unfortunately looks like the P is falling down stairs...
